TBH these are a practical set of fixtures.
Three teams in League 1 will offer a more realistic assessment of players and preparation for the season. Reading, especially, will be tough as they would have been in the Championship on points won and Cardiff would have been relegated. (They are the rules so no moaning.)
It is nice to see a big name pre-season friendly but really does little to prepare the team. But why pay tens of thousands of ££ to bring a team in for a game against a team that doesn’t play like anyone we will meet in the league and will treat it like a training exercise?
I would love to see us train and have a fixture abroad (holiday + watch the Swans) but not really bothered.
Will I watch these friendlies? Yes, dates permitting. It will be a chance to watch the Swans. [Post edited 7 Jun 2023 11:13]

Whoever we play will treat it as a training exercise, because that's exactly what it is. Pre-season friendlies are never much cop really, specially when they are 3 "halves" and the teams change radically each half.
Oxford is an easy enough trip, it's not far really. We may go, not via Blackpool though  | | | |

I think Swansea beat Atalanta 4-0 from memory. The Italians were just not on it at all and their centre back scored an own goal from 40 yards giggled and shrugged his shoulders in that Italian way they have.
In another game Coruna Deportivo was well on it and thrashed Monk's team 4-0 and Bony and Gomis never played up front together again (?) [Post edited 20 Jun 2023 14:12]
